No matter the grade, going back to school this fall will feel different. Your middle or elementary schooler may be feeling anxious, worried, or just plain not up to it—and maybe you’re feeling the same way.

For many, home is where they’ve felt safe from all kinds of stressors related to school and the pandemic, so it’s only natural that families readying themselves for in-person learning this fall may be feeling some trepidation. Even in the best of times, going back to school is a big change, especially for those that are just starting middle school or high school.

So what can you do to help them prepare to go back to school in-person?
